Guardian of Atlantis

She is a guardian of the gateway to Atlantis. A fierce warrior who nontheless loves peace more than to fight.
Her muted colours of the ocean make her next to invisible until she is near enough to strike.
She guards the secret gateway from humans who her folk despises and dreads.
If humans where ever to discover their secrets they might wipe them from the face of the planet for good,
like they thought they did long ago. So long ago, that they are but a mere legend in our world of today.

Finally after an huge artists block (partially due to health and several rl issues causing a heap of stress) I got this artwork done. I prolly revamped the materials used several times and redid things umpteen times before I was ready to upload it. I didn't want to do the typical long-haired mermaid. Why? well I thought long hair might be rather unpractical underwater and though I like those mermaids too I rather thought of a creature more adapted to a life deep down. Maybe the fins aren't that harmless as they look but have some of the tips and points rather poisonous as a lions fish? Maybe more of a merelf than a mermaid... whatever it is... let your imagination run wild......

Thanks for each and every +fav. I have come to a point where it gets impossible to thank for all the faves personally.
Though I feel a little guilty, I rather take the time to create new art you hopefully will enjoy and which hopefully will inspire
you, give you a smile at the right time, and work on my Project AWW, helping the true Angels get recognised for their
kindness, than being continuously 1000+ messages behind.
Be assured I am really and deeply grateful for every single fave and I will continue to answer any comment given.

Love you all :D (Big Grin)

Beautiful work on this. I love the shading effect you give to show the absence of light on her skin. Also, I love the whales you discreetly put in the distant background. The implementation of the many different marine life and colors of the coral is also very nicely blended together. Plus that red tip of the hilt on the dagger is a nice contrast to the entire color of her body.

The only "criticism" I have is probably more of a personal preference. I would have loved to have seen her gaze looking straight at the viewer. I think that would have made such a larger and more effective impact with us. Overall though, very nicely put together.

I hope to see more work of yours in the future though, and I aspire to be at the abilities that you have some day.
